Think Pink2 of 23
To get Cate Blanchett's pretty pink lip, makeup artist Jeanine Lobell layered Giorgio Armani's Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Boudoir, a nude rose, over Scarlatto, a raspberry rose hue. "We didn't want to do the expected red lip to go with her gorgeous Armani black gown," said Lobell. "So we went the softer route. No harsh lines. Instead, I blended colors for dimension."

Makeup artist Adam Breuchaud applied both Jouer's Cream Tint in Whisper and Mineral Powder Bronzer in Sunshine to Kate Beckinsale's cheeks. "This is my favorite go-to duo," said Breuchaud. "Together they define and brighten the cheek effortlessly."
Nailed It4 of 23
Manicurist Beth Fricke painted Essie Berry Naughty on Taylor Schilling's nails. "Taylor wanted a very classic, elegant look, and this was the perfect oxblood shade," said Fricke. "It looked absolutely gorgeous against her dark kelly green gown!"
Stop Short5 of 23
Lupita Nyong'o rocked a short, sleek hairstyle, the perfect counterpart to her striking dress. Hairstylist Larry Sims achieved the look by applying Smooth 'N Shine Go Pro Curls Curl-Licious Mist to refresh Nyong'o's natural curls. Using a rattail comb, he created a deep side part and combed the hair over on both sides. Then, Sims used Smooth 'N Shine Go Pro Curls Butter Bouncin' to give the actress's hair texture, and sprayed got2b 2sexy Voluptuous Volume Hairspray to keep hair in place.
Good As Gold6 of 23
Inspired by the Bond girl look, makeup artist Pati Dubroff combined Lancôme Dual Finish All Day Wear Versatile Powder Makeup and Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation to give Naomi Watts her perfect golden complexion. Dubroff blended the peach and pink hues from the Lancôme Blush Subtil Palette in Menage A Trois Kissed to the apples of Watts' cheek and the top of the cheekbone for a rosy flush.
Glow Away7 of 23
Makeup artist Jennifer Streicher was responsible for Margot Robbie's sun-kissed tan. "First, we did an all-over application of St. Tropez's Self-Tan Bronzing Mousse the day before the awards," she said. "The day of, I applied a mixture of the One Night Only Body Lotion with the Skin Illuminator. After allowing it to set into her skin, I went back over the tops of shoulders, chest and collarbone with just the illuminator for a glowing finish."
Silver Fox8 of 23
To match Kate Mara's silvery gown, makeup artist Coleen Campbell-Olwell gave the actress intense eyes. "I applied Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Eye Contour around Mara's eyes," she said. "Since we were doing an intense eye, we wanted the area to be smooth. I used Antonym Certified Natural Eye Pencil in Noir on the waterline and along the top of the lash line. That was blended out to create a smoky effect. I then added a navy and gray shadow along the top of the eye and a little bit underneath, close to the bottom lash line. To finish, I used Orlane Volume Care Mascara."

Hairstylist Oribe gave Jessica Chastain her full-bodied locks. "She wanted her hair off of her face and wavy," he said. Oribe started by blowing out the actress's hair with his Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse for texture, then added Thick Dry Finishing Spray for fullness. Once hair was smooth, he spritzed Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray and curled sections with a two-inch iron. Next he used Dry Texturizing Spray at the roots, teasing hair at the crown and around the face, and set the look with Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray.
Holy Smoke10 of 23
To get Allison Williams' smoky eyes, makeup artist Lauren Anderson first groomed the actress's brows with Votre Vu Brow Wax. Next, she used Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Urban Skyline on the lids, and lined Williams' eyes with Glimmersticks Eye Liner in Blackest Black. Finally, she finished the lashes with the Mega Effects Mascara.
Lady in Red11 of 23
Inspired by old Hollywood glamour, makeup artist Jordan Long gave Michelle Dockery a bright red lip. "I prepped her lips by applying concealer lightly all over," said Long. "This neutralized everything for a nice base. Then, I applied lip liner over the entire lip and went back over with Votre Vu French Kiss in Chloe. I used a lip brush for extreme precision. When you're applying a bright lip color, I recommend using a lip brush because you need the color to be exact. With a neutral color, you can apply straight from the tube since the color contrast with the skin isn't as great."
Bronze Medal12 of 23
Makeup artist Stephen Sollitto wanted to create a '70s-inspired look for Amy Adams in a nod to her movie American Hustle. "With their fantastic smiles and healthy glows, we kept the decade's style in mind," he said. Sollitto applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (not available until fall) over Adams' face, followed by a light dusting of the Bronzing Pressed Powder in Matte Bronze. Finally, using his fingers, he applied the Crème Cheek Colour in Praline to Adams' cheeks.
Make Waves13 of 23
Hairstylist Lona Vigi worked on Olivia Wilde's glamorous side-swept waves. "Olivia wanted to feel like herself tonight—beautiful, but not overdone—so I left her hair down," she said. "I think this look is sexy and effortless, even a bit rock 'n' roll." Vigi parted Wilde's hair to one side and blow-dried it with a round brush. Then she sprayed Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray all over Wilde's hair and curled it, alternating with a 3/4 and 1 1/2-inch barrel. Next, Vigi used the Pronto Invisible Spray on the roots for body and shine, finishing with the Lacca Hairspray.
Lip Service14 of 23
Makeup artist Katey Denno applied Burt's Bees Peony Lip Shimmer followed by a coat of Burt's Bees Caramel Daisy Tinted Lip Balm to Lizzy Caplan's pucker. "Because Lizzy's beautiful dress is so structured with amazing gold beadwork, I wanted to keep her makeup relatively simple," said Denno.
Skin Deep15 of 23
To get Reese Witherspoon's flawless skin, makeup artist Mai Quynh applied Laura Mercier Secret Concealer under the actress's eyes and Secret Camouflage around her nose area. She then used Crème Cheek Colour in Praline on the apples of Witherspoon's cheeks and layered Second Skin Cheek Colour in Peach Whisper on top. "Layering creams and powders ensures that your makeup stays on longer," said Quynh.
Lash Out16 of 23
Sofia Vergara did her own makeup for the night. "With my dress so elegant and my necklace so bold, I wanted to keep my makeup simple and classic," she said. The Modern Family actress used CoverGirl's Bombshell Liner in Chocolate Kiss to create a cat eye. Then she dabbed the brand's Bombshell ShineShadow in Gold Goddess on her lids and layered the Bombshell Mascara on her top and bottom lashes for a sexy eye makeup look.
All That Glitters17 of 23
To get Jennifer Lawrence's striking makeup look, use Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Gris-Gris, Iconic Overcurl Mascara in Over Black and Crayon Kohl in Black on eyes and Rouge Dior Lipstick in Prune Daisy on lips.
Smooth Operator18 of 23
Hairstylist Aviva Perea balanced Zoe Saldana's intricate dress with a sleek hairdo. "On award days, hair has to hold up under lights and in different temperatures, so when the look is sleek, it's important that products keep hair smooth and humidity out," she said. To secure the bun, Perea sprayed L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Lock It Weather Control Hairspray onto a clean disposable mascara wand and combed down flyaways. Then she sprayed Adams' locks with Elnett Satin Volume Hairspray "to seal in the look while giving it a beautiful light shine."
Great Moves19 of 23
Hairstylist Mark Townsend was inspired by Emilia Clarke's gown. "The mix of embroideries looked like movement, so I wanted her hair to move beautifully as well," he said. He combed a few drops of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment through her hair, then sprayed Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray at her roots and blow-dried with a round brush. Next, he wrapped sections of hair around a 1 1/2-inch curling iron. "The large barrel creates bends in the hair instead of curls," he said. Finally, he raked a few more drops of the nourishing treatment through her hair for more shine.
Take a Shine20 of 23
Emma Watson's sophisticated chignon showcased her dress's low back. To get the look, hairstylist Shelley Brien sprayed Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Heat Protect & Shine Spray on Watson's damp hair, and blow-dried it straight with a round brush. She made a side part and sprayed Vidal Sassoon Pro Series ColorFinity Dry Shampoo in Rich Darks at the roots for volume, then brushed Watson's hair back until smooth. Then she pulled the hair into a low ponytail, wrapped it into a loose chignon and pinned it in place. Brien then pulled a few pieces to the front for a cool, undone look.
Driving Miss Daisy21 of 23
Nail artist Tom Bachik designed Zooey Deschanel's '60s-inspired floral manicure. He placed gold studs on each nail to create the center of the daisies, then dipped a small brush into L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Polish in I Will! to paint the petals. Bachik then added L'Oréal Paris Magic Top Coat in True Gold (this color is discontinued, but here's a similar option) over the centers. He finished by applying L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Top Of The Line Top Coat over the entire nail to set the look.
Rosy Outlook22 of 23
Wondering how to get Lena Dunham's perfect complexion? Makeup artist Jo Strettell prepped the actress's skin with Temptu Base Smooth & Matte Primer, then used the AIRpod Foundation for a flawless base, Concealer Wheel under the eyes and around the nose and dusted her skin with Invisible Difference Finishing Powder. A touch of the AIRpod Blush on the apples of Dunham's cheeks completed the look.
Clean Slate23 of 23
Makeup artist Sarah Sullivan first prepped Jenna Dewan-Tatum's skin with vbeauté Undercover Agent Anti-Wrinkle Serum. "It hydrated and calmed her skin, creating the perfect canvas before applying her makeup, says Sullivan. "Makeup, especially a red lip, has a tendency to look harsh in the daylight, so I had to keep this in mind with Jenna's look. We chose vbeauté Lip Spread Vixen Gloss, because it was fresh, modern and transitioned nicely from day to night."
