When it comes to sprucing up your home, flowers are arguably the prettiest option. We asked DIY expert and event planner Kim Foren of Geranium Lake Flowers how to get the look of some of the hottest trends of the season, without the crazy price tag or a professional florist's skills. Check out these amazing over-the-top floral inspirations, then get even more inspired by our easy-to-replicate interpretations.

White orchids cascaded from white rose-filled candelabras at this private estate wedding in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Florist Karen Tran of San Diego's Karen Tran Florals says that her arrangements, which also included white hydrangeas, suited the 200-guest fete's "vintage elegance" theme.

White-on-white is one of Foren's favorite go-to looks. "Anything monochromatic has a way of making even the most mundane things look extraordinary," she says. To get a similar look, gather a collection of silver containers—from small mercury-lined votive holders to taller vases. Pick out all white flowers (here, carnations mix with freesia and delphinium) from the florist or grocery store and simply arrange in the containers. Place the smaller vases on a cake stand for a luxe look.

The Beverly Wilshire Hotel is famous for many reasons—after all, it was the setting of the classic film Pretty Woman. But, its lobby is also known for its stunning floral displays, like this multi-vase, single-color masterpiece that makes a huge visual impact. (The hotel even has a Pinterest board dedicated to its rotating blooms.)

Take a small bouquet of single-colored in-season flowers, like golden yellow ranunculus and up the visual impact by splitting up the blooms among various clear containers. Here, glass votives, drinking glasses and crystal vases, all at various heights, allow the flowers to take up more space on a dresser. Use books to add additional height where you may need it.

Event planner Mindy Weiss styled this wedding, which included a mixed look of manzanita branches, moss and blush and cream roses. "Our bride wanted an Italian-countryside-inspired wedding with a classic twist," she says. "The wedding took place at a private vineyard in Malibu and was the perfect setting for the romantic and elegant design she wanted us to create."

Flower arrangements don't need to be just flowers. Stores like Pier 1 have grapewood branches that you can use in the arrangement. Simply tuck a couple pots of moss, available at your local nursery, around the branch. Peach-colored roses and a couple stems of peonies add to the interesting display. Place on a sideboard or on a dining room table as the centerpiece.

Located in Los Angeles, the Smog Shoppe is an event space rimmed in lush succulent walls, created in 2009 using the Woolly Pocket garden system. Not only do the nearly 2,000 plants provide an eco-friendly sound barrier but they make a stunning green backdrop as well.

Foren says succulents are a great way to pull the outdoors in—especially for those of us who hate to see blooms fade so quickly. A wooden box, with a plastic insert to contain soil and water from ruining your furniture, found at the flower market, makes a great container for a grouping of inexpensive 2-inch succulents.
