Southern Comfort for the CMT Music Awards

By Julie Fishman

Country music's biggest party of the year comes straight from Nashville tonight, and we suggest joining in the festivities with this special Glo cocktail — guaranteed to bring out your inner cowgirl as you watch.

If Toby Keith and Brad Paisley performing in tight denim makes you light up, try “The Gilded Edge” — a frontier whiskey drink, designed exclusively for Glo by L.A. bartender Matt Wallace. Whether you're rooting for upstart group Lady Antebellum or still-sizzling Carrie Underwood, you just can't lose with this Southern sipper in hand. Hosted by Kid Rock, this year's CMT Music Awards show is sure to have a whole lot of down-home getting down.

"The Gilded Edge"

2 oz. Bulleit Bourbon

3/4 oz. Green Chartreuse

1 bar spoon Cointreau

3-4 drops Cherry Bitters

Rind of one lemon

1 cup olive oil

Combine rind and olive oil into a bowl; mix well and put aside into a small spray bottle. Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Stir in ice until diluted to taste, then strain into coupe (cocktail glass). Spritz with the lemon/oil mixture — and enjoy!

Matt Wallace is the head bartender at Seven Grand, located in downtown Los Angeles.

Watch the 2010 CMT Music Awards tonight at 8/7 PM ET/PT.
