Hump Day Happy Hour
An Icy Sipper For Labor Day WeekendBy Julie Fishman
Each year our kids hope Alice Cooper's promise that “school's out forever” will come true. But, now that September is here, it will soon be time to sharpen those number two pencils yet again — and attempt to help the little ones with their math homework.
Though, before bemoaning summer's transience, celebrate summer's sublimity with a refreshing “Kentucky Peach Crush,” created for Glo by the bartenders at L.A.'s Comme Ça. This icy cocktail has both the nostalgia of days past and the promise of days to come — plus, come on, an alcoholic snow cone is pretty darn ingenious.
Sip on your “Kentucky Peach Crush” and cross your fingers for an Indian Summer. Though, no matter if it doesn't come — you'll have all the more reason to take a vacay.
“Kentucky Peach Crush”
2 oz. Rye or bourbon whiskey
¾ oz. Fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. Simple syrup
2 Peach slices
Put ice cubes in a shaker. Use a muddler to crush the ice then set aside. Combine first three ingredients in a large rocks glass. Top with the crushed ice you made. Peel two peach slices, muddle with a few drops of simple syrup and pour over the crushed ice.
With this icy peach cocktail in hand, you'll swear it's still summer!Thinkstock
