Hump Day Happy Hour
A Warm-You-Up Cocktail to Celebrate the Start of WinterBy Julie Fishman
Though it may feel like we're well into winter already, next Tuesday marks the official start of snowball season. With weeks of skiing, sledding and skating ahead, Jack Frost won't just be nipping at your nose; he'll be freezing off your face.
When long johns and turtlenecks aren't keeping your heinie hot, grab a mug of “Liquid Limerick,” a made-by-Glo tipple that takes off on the traditional Irish coffee. Sweet but potent, this personal pot-o-gold will leave you toasty, tipsy and contemplating full-on hibernation.
We're not doctors, but we have found that wetting your whistle with this tipple can ameliorate common winter illnesses like a sore throat or short-day depression. So the next time the kids are out curling and the hubby is busy professing his love to the snowblower, whip up some “Liquid Limerick” and drink to your health.
1 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey
1 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
2-3 oz. coffee
Directions: Add the Jameson and Bailey's to a mug. Fill to the top with fresh-brewed coffee and stir. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
This drink will keep you warm and toasty all winter long.Thinkstock
