Dr. Paul Roache is board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery as well as Sports Medicine, and he manages a specialist practice in San Francisco. Fellowship-trained in shoulder surgery, Paul has developed an 'integrative orthopaedic' practice that includes acupuncture, chiropractic, Chinese medicine, yoga, physical therapy and traditional medicine, minimally-invasive arthroscopic surgery.
Paul's deep, personal interest in yoga began over a decade ago, and he completed his RYT-200 teacher training in 2009. Since, Paul has been teaching anatomy to yoga teachers and teachers-in-training. A former NCAA polevaulter, he has a unique perspective on the body, movement and injury.
He teaches anatomy to yoga students in order to correct what he perceives as a general lack of fundamental understanding of basic anatomy concepts. His mission is to provide anatomy tools that can be explored and used on the mat immediately. He believes that foundational anatomy concepts are a prerequisite for a deep, safe practice--allowing yoga teachers to work with skill and competency in order to better help students avoid injury, as well as to help injured students recover through yoga.
